About Us – Eldorado Hotel | Bisbee Hotels
Bisbee was once considered the largest city between St. Louis and San Francisco in the late 1800′s boasting the largest producing Copper Mine in the world. It still has ample historic sites to pique any history buffs’ interest. Our excellent downtown location allows you to easily walk to and explore all the wonders of this unique western city and its’ one of kind shops, art galleries, museums, restaurants, pubs and tourist attractions.
Long before the Eldorado Suites Hotel was established in 2006 it was known by everyone in Bisbee as the Brooks Apartments. Built in 1914 as Arizona’s first apartment building, it is listed as #27 on Bisbeeās Historic Register. This 13,000 square foot, three story southwest territorial with it’s graceful arches and expansive covered porches was completely built from poured concrete. Even the interior walls are solid concrete making it a virtual fortress. Sadly, the Brooks Apartments was in a near condemned state when Pearl Brooks died in 1978. The first renovation was undertaken in 1982 by the new owners and a professional architect. The outcome of the renovation was a clever consolidation of the original 18 units into twelve spacious two bedroom condo sized units, each averaging around 850 square feet. Many of the buildings’ original architectural features still remain including the original claw foot bath tubs.

How we came to settle in Bisbee in 2002 is a story common to many Bisbeeites. It was our first trip to Bisbee and we had no intention of staying more than just a few days. We found the people to be very friendly and small town living appealing. Real estate was very reasonable then which prompted us to purchase the apartment building without any hesitation. It wasn’t until 2006 that the Eldorado was fully functioning as an all suites hotel. We had owned and operated two other lodging establishments in Maine for 20 years so we had experience in the hospitality industry. We created the Eldorado because we felt that with its’ excellent downtown location, great views, outdoor balconies and spacious accommodations it would appeal to a wide variety of leisure travelers, motorcycle enthusiasts and business travelers alike. And it has!
